It all begins with family and faith

Those comes first. I am also blessed to be a physician - specialized in Family Medicine and Clinical Informatics - seeing patients of all ages, from cradle to grave. I practice both outpatient (clinic) and inpatient (hospital) in Tampa, Florida.

What do I do?

  • I began in my clinical role at USF in 2017 enjoying the breadth and depth of practicing primary care. I established our outpatient procedure clinic, and shortly thereafter I built our department’s inpatient Family Medicine service, where we care for patients at Tampa General Hospital.

I sought out training to help those dealing with substance use disorder and I was trained in Six Sigma (6σ) taking on administrative roles focused on quality improvement.

  • Since graduating medical school, I have expanded my role to become a physician-educator. I have worked with medical students at all levels; from small-group teaching to co-directing both pre-clinical and clinical courses.

For more formal training, I completed the UNC Faculty Development Fellowship and the STFM Emerging Leaders Fellowship. I was awarded the STFM’s New Faculty Scholar Award and then began work in course and curricular design, building our Family Medicine transition to residency course and others. I now continue to serve on the medical school’s curriculum committee.

Recently, I have taken on the role of Founding Program Director. As I shift into graduate medical education, I am excited to help build a new Family Medicine Residency program at Tampa General Hospital.

  • I have been able to conduct research on multiple fronts during the first part of my career. My interests span from MedEd to clinical topics. Our team has had grant funded support as well, through Moffitt Cancer Center.

I co-authored a paper that won the 2021 Society of Teachers in Family Medicine Research Paper of the year.

One of my favorite learning experiences was a startup company, FeedForward. I received a grant from the National Science Foundation to assist in our work building a mobile application for medical education where we aimed to change how we track longitudinal student progress.

  • I serve as a clinical advisor for Chronius Health. In this role, I build and implement systems for our patient-care model, focusing on experience and quality of care. I have worked on several other consulting engagements as well.

With my training in primary care and clinical informatics, courses in leadership development, and administrative experiences, I have been fortunate to see medicine from many vantage points. I am open to discussing your project needs - just reach out!
